Description

The Whirlpool 285790 Washer Clutch Lining is an essential component of your washing machine's transmission mechanism. It works by generating friction against a rotating shaft, much like a brake pad in an automobile. This friction enables the clutch to regulate the engagement and disengagement of the drive motor during the wash cycle. The clutch lining engages the shaft, transmitting motor power and spinning the wash basket when the washer needs to agitate the clothing. The clutch releases during the spin cycle, enabling the basket to spin at high rates for effective water removal. A worn-out clutch lining may cause sliding, which can be felt as a lackluster agitation or difficulty spinning the engine. Replace the clutch lining with a part like the 285790 to restore correct operation.
