Step 1: The process is initiated by cutting off power to the furnace, which can be done by toggling the main switch or deactivating the breaker in your home’s electrical panel.

Step 2: Based on the furnace model, it may be necessary for certain outer panels to be detached to gain access to the ignitor. In various models, the ignitor is positioned near the burner and is easily reachable, while in others, it could be concealed beneath multiple panels. This task can typically be performed using a power drill and several screwdrivers.

Step 3: The old ignitor is removed by unscrewing it and any wires attached to it are disconnected.

Step 4: The new Whirlpool 74002413 igniter is inserted into its designated spot and then the wiring is connected - if a harness is provided with the new component, it is utilized for the connections. The connections are ensured wrapped with electrical tape for added security.

Step 5: The thermocoupler is installed and then the furnace is started to be reassembled, with all panels that were taken off during disassembly being reinserted.

Step 6: Lastly, the electrical power is turned back on to the furnace and its operation is checked.
