Whirlpool WP22003245 Washing Machine Water Inlet Valve Assembly

The Whirlpool WP22003245 is a water inlet valve designed exclusively for Whirlpool washers. It regulates how much water enters the machine and how much is used for each wash cycle. Usually a solenoid valve, this one responds to electrical signals from the washing machine's control board by using an electromagnet to open and close the valve stem. The control board signals the valve to open when the washing machine requires water, which turns on the electromagnet. As a result, the valve stem opens, letting water enter the machine via the attached hoses. The control board transmits another signal when the reservoir is full enough to deactivate the electromagnet and close the valve stem, therefore cutting off the water supply.
