Step 1: The switch should be identified and the power supply to it should be deactivated. To prevent electrical shock or other hazards, it should be confirmed that the power is switched off prior to commencing work on the switch.

Step 2: After the power has been deactivated, the screws securing the switch should be extracted. A flathead screwdriver may be necessary for this task.

Step 3: The old switch should be removed from the wall box. Care should be taken to observe the wiring configuration connected to the old switch prior to its removal.

Step 4: The black wires should be attached to the two outer brass-colored screws on the new switch, and the white wires should be connected to the two inner silver-colored screws. The screws should be ensured tightened firmly.

Step 5: The switch should be inserted back into the wall box, aligning the mounting holes, and it should be fastened with the screws.

Step 6: The power should be reactivated and the switch’s functionality should be verified to ensure it operates correctly.

The Whirlpool WP3149404 switch in your home has now been effectively replaced. If any complications are encountered during this procedure, it should ensure that the power is turned off before consulting a qualified electrician.
